Comments and critiques from the Shallowater Company

Jonah

I need to react more vocally in big scenes with willie, sugar, and jack. I have been doing decent on reacting with actions but the judge needs to hear and not only see. Also, it's practically impossible for me and sugar to be out before the funeral. So since Andrew and my lines are split I was wondering if he could just say the second part instead of me that way it's a garauntee that it will be said.

The main thing I need to work on is reacting. I felt like I did good on the clinic but I can be so much better. Sugar boy did a great job of reacting and I need to not only react off of willie but off of sugar boy too Let's get Hugh, then Adam say Tiny's line in funeral.

I think right now we are really great the one thing I feel like we have to get down though are our reactions. Jonah and I are having a hard time changing before the funeral and I keep having to skip that scene, so I can get dressed

We're getting better, and had lots of improvement since the last time we ran through it, but we really need to work on transitions, stepping on lines, and the back ground scenes.

We have gotten our time down by a lot but if we could just step on lines it would be even better. We also really need to work on having different personalities, characterization, and reacting to really Polish the play.

Too many pauses in Payton's mono

More people during bad speech

During crowd they need to LISTEN To what macs saying
When will behind light looks awful
All kadyns lines sound the same
Austin needs to be more believable
Ashlyn's scene really bad

It was sooo good! I'm so glad we are almost to the time we need to be at!!! If we just step on lines we will get under 40 min

With every play comes a new set of characters. And those characters are going to be different than who you are in real life. focus on your strengths and improve those but don't forget your weaknesses and focus on strengthening those as well. on February 19

The picnic scene needs to be more energetic and have more people noises. This scene is also very long and will get boring if it does not have a lot of energy. on February 19

I need to work on characterization in the crowd scenes and make the setting of the play believable! As a group I think we need to work on stepping on lines! And I need to work on annunciation! on February 19

In crowd scenes, act like you would in an assembly with mr Johnson. Then when willie starts talking, quiet then be happy like a team went to state or something and be happy or angry or whatever. on February 19

We need to work on getting the crowd scenes more energy. Right now it's just like one or two people making noise and six people just standing their like mimes. on February 19

The thing we really need to get down at this point is when the crowd comes in these are important to transitions and making sure there aren't any pauses between scenes on February 19

I think we are getting better every practice!! We need to work in characterization, our transitions and really figureing out who your character is. on February 19

The time is getting better. We are close to our time goal and if we continue to polish the transitions, we will get there very soon. Just keep stepping on lines and make sure we are always in character. on February 19

We're still walking like we're going to math class. Everyone needs a different walk for this to really work! Even if you do fabulous as your character, if you don't walk correctly and math your character, then it kills it. on February 19

Personally I liked what I did last night better than what I have been trying to do. I think that I will begin to pull off my character as more condescending rather than trying to be brutish. For one I think it will add more depth to my character and I think that I will be more easily able to pull it off. on February 16

One thing that we definitely need to work on is the age of some of the women in the play. We should see a definite difference, for example, when we saw Anne in the present and when Jack has his memory of Anne. Also, people like the Mother and Lily need to have a huge variation between the multiple characters that they play. Have an obvious change in personality, body motions, age, and voice. on February 19

There are too many people behind the back and it is hurting our ability to pay attention and make our crowd scenes. These scenes are very important and they will add another dimension to our play. on February 15
