February 26

Great job today.  It was a long day, but you never gave up.  I'm impressed.  There are a few tweaks that we need to make - about 16 seconds of tweaks.

March 7 is our next clinic.   Next Saturday at 7PM.   Our first public performance is March 8 at 3pm.

Singing was amazing.  It can only get better.

Concentrate on the environment now.  Louisiana is miserable in the summer - humid - flies and mosquitos as big as helicopters.

Mother - much better in your lines.   You are great in the crowd scenes.    You probably have one of the hardest roles.  The audience has to make an opinion of you from a few lines.  Tough job!  You will get it.

Judge - very introspective - loved the difference in your character as a redneck, crowd person and Judge.  Easy to see the difference.

Willie - amazing - you become Willie Stark on stage - especially as you drink more during the show. Becoming mad and then laughing - layers to your character.  Don't take a drink before returning to Lucy. : )

Jack - wonderful insightful performance - strong throughout the show.  You are finally different with each person and we can see the sensitive and vulnerable side of Jack.

Sadie - fantastic job - you are confidant yet vulnerable.  Make us hurt for you.  You have to love Willie so much that it is an obsession.   Hate to say it but watch Fatal Attraction - Glenn Close's character.

Crowd scenes were much better.

Anne - can see the mature Anne as well as the teen Anne.  The scenes with Jack draw the audience in with its intimacy.  You are not afraid to take a risk.   Excellent work today.

Lucy - much better.   Watch choppiness.  I love Love  your part at the end.  You are so happy and it literally breaks our heart to see Willie die.  Maybe scream Willie and drop to your knees at the end.

Sugar Boy - always watching - ever vigilant.   Great job today.  You are intimidating in the show which shows what a great actor you are.

Tiny - love your character.   You and Sugar Boy make a good pair.  You play off each other well.  I want to see you become even more angry at Willie .  We need to see you and Adam meet and hand a gun over

Adam and Sheriff - So different in each part.  Hilarious in one and unsettling in the other.  You go from one extreme to another.   We can see you thinking on stage as Adam.  WoW!

Dolph - Dolph keeps getting bigger and bigger.  I love the way you add something new each time you perform.  You also do a great job of being different in the other characters you do.  Great job for a first time actor.

Hugh- Love your voice and love your passion on stage.  You do not deviate from your part on stage.  You are single minded and are always paying attention.

Editor- I love the way you go from one character to the next.  The editor is so much better.  You have put a lot of thought into the role.  I love the character actor side of you .  You remind me of JK Simmons.  A great actor but where he shines is as the character actors he has played.  You are the world of the play.  You and Paige add so much to the atmosphere of the play.

Lily - Great job as always.  You are always thinking on stage.  You have Lily down pat.  I can sense the loneliness you emanate.   Then the heartache as the voice in the funeral.  Wonderful job.

Woman 2 - wonderful acting in crowd scenes.  You intuitively know where to go and what to do.  You are joyful in the crowd scenes which lends energy to the ensemble.  Be more passionate in the funeral scene.  We have to grab the audience with that first line of dialogue.

Thanks to everyone else - music and lights are impeccable -Reagan, Carly, Jonathan and Riley.  You have one of the hardest jobs in the show.  In this show in particular, the lights and sound are another character.

Thanks to Kylie, Brooke, Amy,  Kayla, Mia, Cora, Elijah, and Cheyanne for your willingness to take notes, fill in, watch and give advice.  You spend hours working on the set, props, makeup, research.  You will never get enough credit.  You are the glue that holds everything together.

Thanks to the new people.  You have enriched our lives and show.  Thanks to the freshmen - we yell at you a lot,but could not do the show without you.  To the veterans - hard to believe you keep getting better - each year we are blown away.

Thanks to Ms. K and G - This would be impossible to do without your insight, talent, and loyalty to the kids and theatre.

As you can tell, I am a happy camper today, but tomorrow - who knows.  Do not become too complaisant.  There is always room for improvement  - new ideas to explore - I love Nathan's suggestion about the increasing and slowing down parts in the show.  Think of how we can do this.
