Step on lines
·
Crowd scenes must be faster- They all need to
be like the rednecks’ scene. You
cannot wait to come out together. It should be staggered.
·
Crowds – must step on line of last sentence
and hurry out.
·
Crowd of impeachers, cross in front to follow
Willie out. Need more impeaching people.
·
We need cigarette ashes.
·
Bad freeze before bad speech.
·
After you sing Every Man’s a King, ½ crowd USL
and ½ USR. When Sadie starts to sing
Every Man a king – everyone sings and crosses from one side to next.
·
Woman 2 & Judge are the only two the
audience hears in crowd scenes.
·
Be in the scenes all the time. You are making simple mistakes.
·
If you have read this far, text give us the hair
of the dog at district.
·
There is too much noise right stage during
Lilipugh’s scene.
·
Snap together
I am trying to change times with Dimmitt on Saturday. Would you mind performing at 6AM that morning before the first school arrives? I'll have to ask the clinician if Dimmit doesn't change.
Good luck, cheerleaders, Jonah & Austin Tuesday night.

Practice with the shoes. I don’t
want… should be straightforward and almost attacking. You started off that way and then got
nicer. Don’t do the cross any more. My
bad suggestion.
Hold your purse as a clutch.

Anne
|
Step on the music box music at the beginning.
Need a purse and compact.
Be more concerned about Jackie seeing you.

Rednecks
|
Great job
|
Mother
|
You need a purse, gloves, hat, etc in crowd scene.
Work on emotion.
|
Judge
|
Let’s find a quicker way for you to enter or enter by yourself. Come
in together and let her walk to the trunk.

Woman 2

Started good – need more emotion.
Especially the last sentence of that line.
Wear flats with crutches.
|
Tiny
|
More emotional on funeral line.
|
Hugh
|
More emotional on funeral line and ask others when to put umbrellas
up and freeze.
|
Editor
|
Louder – you have to overcome thunder and crowd.
Stand up straight.
|
Jack
|
Not so many pauses on lost God speech with Willie
Secret source was good.
Hit em in soft place – yeah!
Cheat to audience with redneck
scene.
Make sure you are invited to sit down in Stark house.

Sadie and Willie
Lights & Jack
|
You are on his lap. Blue out. Sadie is facing the audience fixing
hair, etc. Willie is sitting behind
her with hands around her waist. She
is laughing and Jack comes in – no Tiny – she laughs – blows Willie a kiss
and begin the hair of the dog scene. Can Jack whistle Ain’t misbehavin coming into the scene as Sadie finishes and
sings it out? Next scene must be instant.

Jack and Editor

Good scene with resigning.
|
Sadie
|
More matter of fact – Joe Harrison wanted to split. Information not a question.
Louder with the boys.
Need a hat
Ain’t it awful? Couldn’t
hear. Grunt before you say it.
Make sure everyone is quiet enough to hear your line – ask Carly – I think
it is the previous comment.

Step on Tiny’s line.

React to Hugh resigning.
People noises leaving and entering the scenes.

Bring scrapbook in.

Hugh
|
Out there quicker and hit consonants.
|
Tiny, Sugar Boy, Dolph, Hugh
|
Two Anne’s scenes and Judge’s scenes need benches. Everyone hates the chairs. Table and bench
must be out before shooting scene.
|
Mom and Judge
|
Need to coordinate clothes.
When you are the judge and mom – dressed up. When not, dressed down.

We need emotion.

I think the play has gotten a lot better since we got the new warm-ups, thank you Sydney and Nathan! I want t I work on characterization and being different ages than just a teenager on stage.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how in the opening scene the mom and judge kinda lifted their arms when they parted to go to their seats.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the idea of me fixing my hair after the scene! Also, the heels are killing us! We need help learning how to walk in them because right now I'm too worried about falling rather than focusing on what I'm supposed to be doing.
ReplyDeleteI think that the biggest thing that we need to work on right now is characterization. You have to know every event that has shaped your character and we have to see all of those events on stage. Not only do you have to know about one character, but many of us have to know all of these events for multiple characters. The audience also must see a huge difference between every character that is portrayed, otherwise the judge will get all of the characters confused and we will not advanced past district.

ReplyDeleteFirst of all I would like to say that I'm glad that we finally got the play under 40 minutes. However, there are still things that need improvement. One thing that we need to practice is setting up the stage. If we don't set the stage in under 7 minutes it doesn't matter if we blow the judges away.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Kadyn swinging the hat around in the opening scene. if she doesn't put it on Brodie's head then I don't know if she should still do it. Also I think the assassination scene got better last night. I like that Tucker enters earlier. Tristian sometimes looks like he expects the gun shot and is prepared for it so he should work on that.
ReplyDeleteSome of the relationships still don't look real. Even the ones that are not written in and the crowd scenes are always divided into groups, and it's always the same groups. I think this is because we as actual people are separated into our own little groups and aren't as close as other one act play groups are or even as we have been in the past and I think if everyone got more comfortable with each other it would show in the play.
ReplyDeleteRight now the play is really good. We mainly need to know when and what the transitions are and execute them quickly and properly. That could possible shave 1-2 minutes off the show 👍
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that when we talk about MacMurfy that we usualy say McMurfy. thats something we need to work on
ReplyDeletealso after watching the recording from last night I noticed that Willie was blocking some people. and the crowd scenes took a little long.
ReplyDeleteWhen Jack goes to get Adam could we just have the crowd moving in the back ground, not only would that shave off time but also NOT drive the audience attention to the wandering crowd thats still moving in the front
ReplyDeleteMany of us really need to hit the consonants in our lines. We also need to finish our lines with energy. These are the little things that judges look for. All of the little things are what is going to make this show great. Good work today!
ReplyDeleteWe need to work on the final scene with Adam and willie. It just looks like two guys are getting shot and everyone else have almost the exact same expressions.
ReplyDeleteI think a little kink that we could work out is that everyone says "hey" right as we unfreeze, we have the option to finally SPEAK and all we say is hey!!!!! we need to fix this!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nathan on characterization, ****if you went to see on the verge- remember that guy who played like 8 characters? he was SO different with every single one. they're was a strong definition between all of his parts. we need that. we have to dig deep and really find what sets us apart!
ReplyDeleteLike always we just need to get more fluid with the transitions. Moving needs to be quick and not silent
ReplyDeleteLike always we just need to get more fluid with the transitions. Moving needs to be quick and not silent
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just watched the video and if we do all scenes like the redneck scenes then it would be perfect!! the redneck scene is so natural and it's actually looks like something we would do in real life! make sure the lines in the opening scene are strong because that starts off our play
ReplyDeleteI am liking how far we have come since just a few weeks ago, but we are lacking energy and our transitions are slow, the little things will kill us such as freezes and transitions. These things seperare the good from the great
ReplyDeleteI Feel like we have come so far compared to where we were when we first started! We definitely need to work on characterization and remembering cues. We need to work on the snapping for humpty dumpty tonight and get the timing right. Over all we're doing great but we still need to perfect the small details!!
ReplyDeleteI agree ashlynn definitely needs more emotion. Just not feeling it. Also after you freeze finish the action you were doing when you unfreeze
ReplyDeleteI think a good idea would be to have the cast act out random scenes in the hall or at lunch.
ReplyDeleteEveryone has been better but I still find that some of you need characterization it is important for everyone
ReplyDeleteI am loving our crowds and people noises!!! Now if we could just get the songs down....
